Biography

Madelyn Miyashita (she/her) is a choreographer, actor, singer, dancer, and musician currently based in Toronto. She has collaborated with theatre and dance organizations around the city and across the country. After graduating with honours from Sheridan College’s Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance, Madelyn has gone on to work with The Shaw Festival (Brigadoon, White Christmas), Holla Jazz, and Fall for Dance North. She has also trained with the Verdon Fosse Legacy and Broadway Dance Centre.

Madelyn believes dance and music are inextricably linked, and her instrumental background supports her drive for concentrated musicality. Choreography credits include Newsies (asst. choreo, YDTP), Mary Poppins (YDTP), and Mary Poppins (dir. Ann Hodges, Flin Flon Arts Council). In addition to her performance and choreographic work, Madelyn is currently studying vernacular jazz and lindy hop, and connecting the ways they influence movement in musical theatre. She is very excited to teach the new generation of theatre artists and share the importance of theatrical storytelling through dance!
