THE SHOW
INFORMATION
Book, Music & Lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell
Hadestown: Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation of Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown. This intriguing and beautiful folk musical delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and Lady Persephone. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.
FEES: $1375 + HST
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Note: We will be holding approximately four music rehearsals in June so artists learn the music with their creative team and then have time to memorize their material before staging rehearsals in August. We will also be having full company rehearsal and smaller rehearsal calls during this time to ensure everyone has time to learn their music.
Please click here to download the Tentative Rehearsal Schedule.
- Student call times will fluctuate pending the production’s needs. Eg. Students may be called for an entire rehearsal or may not be called at all.
- Students will be verified in advance of any schedule changes/extended call times
We invite all interested artists between 14-19 yrs who are excited and ready for a fast-paced intensive program that challenges and grows their skills to audition!
HOW TO AUDITION
STEP 1: Submit a Video Audition
Deadline: April 1st, 2025
Video Audition Requirements
Please prepare two of the vocal music cuts under the tab “Audition Materials” for your audition. Choose material that feels comfortable and suitable for your voice and personality.
Complete the Audition Form, which will prompt you to submit your videos, headshot (an image that shows your face from shoulders up), resume, and artist statement.
The Artistic Team will review the submissions and select artists will be invited to callbacks to meet you in person.
Artists that receive a callback are typically asked to audition for one or more specific roles. Callbacks help the artistic team determine role placement for each artist.
Hadestown: Teen Edition is a fully sung-through musical that is heavily ensemble based with roles such as the Fates and Workers. It is likely that during the callbacks, artists may be asked to sing a vocal part that encompasses harmony with other artists.
Please note: if you are called back and cannot make the date, please inform admin@bravoacademy.ca as soon as possible.
In-person callbacks: April 13th, 2025.
